We do not recommend powering a PowerDebug E40 directly from a car's 12V socket. The power socket in cars, especially those with combustion engines, can easily exceed 14V when the engine is running. While such overshoots (e.g., 14.4V) won't destroy the debugger, they will cause the device to shut down. We recommend using a PowerDebug X51 powered via USB-C to debug inside environments without 230V or 110V power outlets.
